Privacy Policy

1. Data We Collect

We collect account profile details, book finance data, optional uploaded documents, product usage telemetry, and support messages needed to operate, secure, and improve Owniko.

Finance data may include accounts, transactions, categories, budgets, tags, family member labels, uploaded document metadata, notes you enter, and settings you choose. We do not ask for or store bank login credentials.

2. Connected Financial Accounts

If you choose to connect a financial account, Owniko uses Plaid to let you authorize access to account and transaction data from your financial institution. Plaid may collect information needed to connect your account and transmit permitted data to Owniko under its own End User Privacy Policy.

Owniko uses connected-account data to show balances, import transactions, categorize records, maintain sync status, troubleshoot connection issues, and help you manage your finances. We request only the Plaid products needed for these features and do not use connected-account data for advertising.

You can review Plaid privacy information at Plaid End User Privacy Policy.

3. Consent and Account Disconnect

Connecting a financial account is optional. When you connect an account, you authorize Plaid and Owniko to process the selected account data for the features described in this policy and in the connection flow.

You may disconnect a linked financial account from Owniko. Disconnecting stops future sync for that connection. Existing imported records may remain in your workspace so your ledger and reports stay accurate unless you delete them or request deletion.

4. How Data Is Used

Data is used to deliver core functionality, support collaboration, provide customer support, maintain security, debug issues, improve product quality, and protect the platform against abuse.

We may use aggregated or de-identified information to understand product reliability, feature usage, and system health. We do not use identifiable financial account data for third-party advertising.

5. Storage, Security, and Retention

Application data is stored in Supabase-backed infrastructure. Storage location and residency depend on project region configuration. Sensitive provider tokens are encrypted before storage, and access is limited based on workspace membership, platform role, and operational need.

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect personal and financial data, including HTTPS in transit, row-level access controls, audit logging, secret storage controls, and monitoring for reliability and unauthorized access.

We retain data while your account or workspace is active and as needed to provide the service, comply with law, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, maintain security, and keep financial records accurate. You can request deletion as described below.

6. Sharing and Sales

We do not sell personal data to third parties. Data sharing is limited to processors required for service delivery, bank connectivity, hosting, storage, email delivery, billing, analytics, error monitoring, security, and support.

Service providers may include Supabase, Vercel, Plaid, Resend, Sentry, payment processors, and similar vendors we use to operate Owniko. These providers may process data only as needed to provide their services to us.

7. Cookies, Telemetry, and Monitoring

Cookies and local storage are used for authentication, session continuity, and product preference persistence. We also collect limited telemetry, logs, and error-monitoring data to measure reliability, diagnose failures, detect abuse, and improve performance.

Error and performance tools are configured to limit unnecessary personal data collection. We do not intentionally send financial account numbers, provider secrets, or bank credentials to monitoring tools.

8. User Rights and Requests

You can request access, correction, export, or deletion of your personal data subject to identity verification, legal retention requirements, security needs, and records we must keep to provide or protect the service. Requests can be sent to support@owniko.com.

You may also manage Plaid connections through Plaid Portal or through the relevant financial institution where available.

9. Changes and Contact

We may update this policy as Owniko changes. If a change is material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users through the product or another appropriate channel.

Questions about this policy can be sent to support@owniko.com.
